The Council Members and Their Fields of Activity

Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA), an independent government authority instituted by the‑17 January 1989 Act, guarantees freedom in audiovisual communications in compliance with the conditions set out by the 30 September 1986 Act. It is composed of a collegial body of nine council members, appointed for a six-year term, by a decree issued by the President of the French Republic. Three of its members, including the President, are appointed by the President of the French Republic, three by the Senate and three others by the President of the National Assembly.

One-third of CSA’s membership comes up for renewal every two years and Council Members may not hold any elected office, public function or other professional activity.

Michel Boyon has been President of CSA since 24 January 2007.
